<< 1958-59 Minneapolis Lakers | 1960-61 Los Angeles Lakers >>
Despite Elgin Baylor ranking among the top of the NBA in nearly every statistical category, the 1959-60 Minneapolis Lakers still went just 25-50. Somehow, in 1960, this was good enough for a playoff spot.
The Lakers managed to get a series win over the Detroit Pistons, and even pushed the first place St. Louis Hawks to seven games. However, the Hawks got their revenge from 1959 and went on to the NBA Finals.
In the Finals, the Hawks would lose to the Boston Celtics in seven games. The Celtics now had two straight championships and three in four years, much like the Lakers had in their first four seasons.
