The Lakers won’t know where they pick until the NBA Draft Lottery takes place next week. With the team most likely to be either the sixth or seventh pick, it is possible they won’t be able to select one of the premier prospects such as Jabari Parker or Andrew Wiggins.

One person who could be in play at that position is Duke forward, Rodney Hood. With everyone in Chicago for the NBA’s Pre-Draft Combine, the Lakers met with the forward yesterday according to Basketball Insiders’ Alex Kennedy:

Hood has prototypical size for a small forward and is one of the best shooters in the NBA Draft. He would fit in seamlessly with the Lakers as someone who could bring athleticism and shooting.

With the status of a number of wing players including Nick Young, Xavier Henry, Jodie Meeks, and Kent Bazemore being a question mark right now, Hood could fill a big role off the bench or eventually slide in as a starter.

There are still a number of things to happen before the Lakers are on the clock and have to make their selection. With basically a blank slate of a roster, they could go a number of ways in the draft.
