In what has become a season of high hopes, the Lakers have endured the worst season in franchise history with a 26-55 record.

Tonight, the Lakers are on the road as they face the number one team in the NBA, the San Antonio Spurs. Along with the best record, the Spurs also held the longest winning streak of the season with five weeks of unbeaten basketball.

The last time the two teams faced off, the Spurs’ defense was too much for the injury-riddled Lakers as the team lost decisively in a 125-109 defeat to San Antonio. In the three meetings between both teams, the Lakers have yet to beat San Antonio this season. The last time the Lakers were swept by the Spurs was during the 2004-05 regular season.

Steve Nash, Chris Kaman, and Pau Gasol have already been ruled out, giving the Lakers only nine available players to finish the season.
