After coming off from a historically bad season for the Los Angeles Lakers, Pau Gasol is one player that was dealt with a plethora of frustrations from his minutes on the floor to his displeasure with Mike D’Antoni’s coaching style.

As an unrestricted free agent this summer, Gasol will have the ability to choose his own team and according to Geoff Calkins of ESPN, Marc Gasol says his brother wants to be recruited in free agency:

Marc continued to talk about the recruitment of his brother, via Calkins:

As this point in time, it remains a mystery whether Pau Gasol will stay with the Lakers or sign elsewhere. Recently, the two-time NBA champion has made it known that he has no first or second option in his free agency.

Last month, after the end of the regular season, Gasol wrote on his personal blog about his decision not being swayed to stay or leave if D’Antoni is retained or fired as the head coach, which ultimately ended up with D’Antoni resigning as the head coach last Wednesday.

As free agency begins on the first day of July, losing Gasol to the Grizzlies would be a major blow for the Lakers front court. Hopefully, the Lakers can somehow persuade Gasol to remain in purple and gold with their ample cap space and a potentially promising player acquired in the upcoming 2014 NBA draft.
