Ultimate Fan QuizVeteran sixth man Nick Young of the Los Angeles Lakers made an appearance where his basketball career began recently to help inspire students. Young showed up at Grover Cleveland High School to help motivate students of his alma mater and provided these words of wisdom, according GetSchooled.com:

“Hard work and determination are critical to achieving success, whether in academics or athletics,” he said.

Along with motivating the students back at his former high school, the Lakers guard also made an appearance in an English class to surprise a certain student:

And our Swaggy P dropped into an English class to let one lucky senior know that his mug would be in Get Schooled’s Time Square Yearbook. Rodolfo Marquez, a senior who chooses the hard classes while finding time to give back to his community, copped cool but clearly was pretty psyched to get the NBA star’s recognition.

Much like fellow teammates Steve Nash, Pau Gasol and Kobe Bryant, Young has made an effort to give back to the community and make public appearances on a regular basis. Not only does Young make these appearances regularly, but he always does them with a smile on his face from ear to ear.

Unfortunately, Young’s future in Los Angeles remains uncertain. Young will likely opt out of his deal with the Lakers this summer in order to test free agency. Although Young hopes to re-sign with Los Angeles to a lucrative long-term deal, it is still unclear if the team is willing to pay his asking price.
