With the San Antonio Spurs’ five-game domination of the Miami Heat complete, thoughts have already begun moving towards next season. According to ESPN, the Lakers opened up at 50-1 before moving to even greater odds:

The only other odds adjustment the past week has been the Lakers raised from 50-1 to 60-1

The odds should come as no surprise. The Lakers finished with the sixth worst record in the NBA this past season and while they will be returning Kobe Bryant, it will take far more than that to move the Lakers into title contention.

The Lakers still haven’t named a new coach, but Byron Scott has emerged as a favorite. Although they have a lot of cap room, the Lakers are not expected to make a big splash unless they feel they have a chance to lure LeBron James to Los Angeles.

Despite being dethroned as champions, the Miami Heat opened as 5-2 favorites. The San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder follow at 9-1, Los Angeles Clippers at 10-1, and the Indiana Pacers and Chicago Bulls at 12-1.
