As we inch closer to the NBA Draft, rumors continue to heat up in Minnesota regarding the possible trade of superstar forward Kevin Love. Love does not want to be in Minnesota, but the Timberwolves want to get as much as possible in a trade, if they do decide to let him go.

Teams have been lining up with their best deals, and while some have come to the conclusion that they don’t stack up with the best deals, a favorite may have emerged according to ESPN’s Chad Ford:

One source close to the Wolves said that while Flip Saunders does not want to trade Love, he realizes the team likely will lose him this summer and the package the Celtics are offering is probably the best he’s going to get.

It would be bad enough if Love was to end up somewhere else, but going to the Celtics would present the biggest stomach punch possible to Lakers fans hoping to see Love in purple and gold.

The Celtics deal would center around the sixth and seventeenth picks in this year’s draft along with future first-round picks, as well as young players like Jared Sullinger and Kelly Olynyk.

The chances of the Lakers landing Love in a trade was always slim as the team simply doesn’t have the assets to make a deal happen. The key to the Lakers landing Love is him choosing not to opt-in and hitting free agency next summer.

If that happens, the Lakers would be one of the favorites to land Love. But as of right now, a possible Minnesota-Boston trade for a superstar power forward could ruin the Lakers plans. Sounds all too familiar.
