The newest member of the Los Angeles Lakers is none other than Julius Randle out of Kentucky. The storied franchise chose to take Randle with the seventh overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft after the former Wildcat impressed Mitch Kupchak and company during a workout with the team.

Along with impressing the Lakers brass in Los Angeles, Randle is also a fan of the storied franchise and said the following after being drafted by the team, according to Mike Trudell of Lakers.com:

With the Lakers potentially having huge holes in the frontcourt, Randle could come in and make an immediate impact. Pau Gasol, Chris Kaman, and Jordan Hill will likely leave Los Angeles in free agency this summer, giving Randle an opportunity to prove to the franchise and the passionate fan base that he was the right choice in the draft.

It remains to be seen whether or not Randle will pan out in Los Angeles, but so far, the reaction has been positive to the Lakers’ selection of the Kentucky product.
