On the eve of 2014 MLB All-Star Game, basketball icon Michael Jordan and “Jumpman”, released a tribute commercial to New York Yankee great Derek Jeter that featured many iconic stars, including Los Angeles Lakers’ President, Jeanie Buss.

The commercial, titled “Re2pect”, shows an army of top tier athletes, coaches and pop culture icons tipping their caps to the 40-year-old Yankee great, who will retire this year after wrapping up his 20th season in a Yankee uniform.

Some of the iconic names include, Tiger Woods, Jay-Z, Carmelo Anthony, and Michael Jordan. However, a name that Laker fans are all familiar with, also made a small appearance in the commercial. Jeanie Buss was shot wearing a Laker hat sitting alongside fiancé  Phil Jackson who was wearing a New York Knicks hat as they both did the “tip of the hat”, acknowledging one of the great athletes to ever play major league sports.

It’s a moving tribute for a guy who made it through baseball’s most controversial era without an arrest or a PED scandal. A tribute for the guy who was known as Major League Baseball’s “poster boy”. This is Nike’s official salute to New York Yankee great, Derek Jeter, number 2.
