Head coach Byron Scott has a tough task ahead of him after taking the helm of the Los Angeles Lakers after their worst season in franchise history. Despite being at the beginning of a potentially extensive rebuilding process, Scott is confident he can get this team back to form with Kobe Bryant leading the way.

Scott recently made an appearance on Fox Sports Live to talk about the upcoming season and coaching Kobe. The Lakers new head coach was asked what his three favorite things are about Kobe and said the following:

“Number one. He’s the most feared competitor probably in the game today. Not afraid to take big shots. Not afraid of the big moment.

“Number two. When you need somebody to get a stop on the defensive end, he’s the guy to get it done. Takes pride on that end of the floor.

“Number three. His leadership. He’s a guy that has been in this league for a number of years. He understands what this league is all about. Probably knows a little bit more about basketball than most coaches do. No me, but most coaches.”

Kobe and Scott have maintained a close relationship that goes back as far as 1996. Scott played mentor to the 17-year-old rookie in Los Angeles during his final season with the Lakers and that bond could prove useful as player and coach next season.

Both Scott and Bryant are looking forward to working with one another as they try and put the pieces back together to build the Lakers back up to becoming a force to be reckoned with once again.
