Get Back to the Basics and the Wins Will Return for Lakers

I understand losing four consecutive games is disturbing but it does not mean that the basketball Gods are cursing the Lakers. However, here are my thoughts on why this ugly streak has occurred early in the season after such a great start.

June 15, 2010 - Los Angeles, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES - epa02204159 Los Angeles Lakers player Kobe Bryant reacts to a shot against the Boston Celtics during the first half of game six of the NBA Finals at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, USA 15 June 2010. Boston leads the series 3-2 for the best of seven games.

First of all, it seems that no one remembers the importance of a decent back up center, ever since Theo Ratliff has gone down to injury our slump has begun. Pau Gasol cannot be playing extensive minutes and be expected to have perfect games each night. Being short handed without Bynum, gives us a disadvantage along with having first year player, Character, as Pau’s new back up!

Second of all, it seems that the Lakers as whole have forgotten to focus on the FACT that defense wins championships, which brings me to my next point and to question Ron Artest’s confidence level early in the season. Not sure what’s going on in the locker room but they have to get that killer instinct mindset that we saw early in the season.

My final thought is the fact that the “Killer B’s” have also lost their stingers and need to find the chemistry that allowed the starters to rest and be ready for upcoming games. So before people start criticizing Kobe Bryant once again, please acknowledge that it is still his team and will find a solution to figure out this problem that the Lakers are currently facing.
