Robert Sacre: ‘It’s Time To Kick Butt And Take Names’
[new_royalslider id=”228″]

The Los Angeles Lakers have made a number of additions to the frontcourt this season, but one player who has been forgotten about is Robert Sacre. The last pick in the 2012 draft, Sacre was able to carve out a spot in the rotation, posting solid numbers, especially down the stretch of last season.

With so many new bigs, Sacre may struggle to get consistent minutes, but in an interview with Lakers reporter Mike Trudell, Sacre sounded ready to get the season going and put the rest of the NBA on notice:

All-around, it’s gonna be a good year […] It’s time to kick butt and take names.

Expectations for the Lakers aren’t too high coming into this season, but Sacre seems as if he expects the team to compete with the best of the NBA. Sacre also knows his role and as arguably the only true center on the roster, he understands what he brings to the table, and feels that will fit in with what new coach Byron Scott is looking for:

He didn’t make me seven feet for nothing so I might as well use my height as my advantage and take advantage of it […] From what I’ve talked to [Coach Scott], what I’ve got the insight, he’s defensive-oriented and I like that so I’m excited.

Sacre is in an interesting spot as he improved last season, but with so many options in the front court including Julius Randle, Carlos Boozer, Jordan Hill, and Ed Davis, there will be a struggle for minutes.

Luckily for Sacre, he seems to understand his role. With no other seven-footers on the roster, Sacre brings something no one else can. If he shows he can protect the rim consistently, he may carve a role out for himself.
