The Los Angeles Lakers needed to get the roster down to 15 players before the season opener on Oct. 28 and were able to do just that on Saturday waiving Jabari Brown and Roscoe Smith, according to Bill Oram of the OC Register:
Lakers waive Jabari Brown and Roscoe Smoth. Roster at 15. Regular seasons rosyer set.

After the news broke of Steve Nash being ruled out for the season, it was uncertain what the Lakers would do moving forward. Brown being cut seemed like a foregone conclusion with the rookie not getting much time on the floor during the preseason, but Smith had a legitimate shot to make the roster.

With the Lakers only having one small forward healthy on the squad in Wesley Johnson, Smith may get a call in the near future to help bring some depth at the position. The recent injuries of Wayne Ellington and Ronnie Price makes things that much tougher on the team with the start of the regular season only days away.
Ellington was diagnosed with a concussion while Price suffered a knee injury. Price’s injury could prove costly depending on how severe it is, but as of right now, it is only being referred to as a sore knee.
