Lakers Practice Report: Jeremy Lin Comments On His Aggressiveness

With their first win under their belts, there was a bit more of a relaxed vibe at Lakers practice on Monday. Jeremy Lin said his teammates were joking, laughing and much more relaxed:

Very relaxed. People are joking, laughing, dancing, singing. But, it’s one of those things where this is the NBA. They come so quick in one game. You’re only as good as your last game essentially. You have to have that edge about you.”

Jeremy Lin had a very productive night in the Lakers win over the Charlotte Hornets with 21 points and seven assists Sunday. Lakers head coach Byron Scott said he pulled Lin aside moments before the game and encouraged him to play out of his comfort zone. Lin said it was helpful Scott pushed him, but he also said he was equally aggressive in his games against the Suns and Clippers, noting that he got to the free throw line ten times against Phoenix:

The first two games of the season I wasn’t aggressive. The game against Golden State I was fake aggressive, passively-aggressive. The other three games I thought I was very aggressive out the gate. I felt like my aggressiveness was the same in those three games.”

The other good news for Lakers fans is that Nick Young might be slightly ahead of schedule for that original eight week timetable put out by the Lakers. Scott said he hopes that sometime next week Young can return to full-contact practice, which means it is possibly Young returns to game action towards the end of November.

The Los Angeles Lakers go on the road to face the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday, Ed Davis’ former team. Davis has proved himself a valuable asset with the opportunity he’s been given out the gates in Los Angeles, and he’s looking forward to returning to Memphis:

It’s a lot of motivation going back there because they gave up on me. It’s a team I definitely want to get a win against.”

After Memphis, the Lakers will hop on a plane to New Orleans to face the Pelicans.
