Young suffered a torn ligament in his right thumb during a scrimmage in training camp while guarding Kobe Bryant. As a result of the injury, Young was forced to undergo surgery and was expected to miss six to eight weeks while recovering.
Over the past week or so, Young has finally been able to get some shots up with the cast on his right hand removed. Head coach Byron Scott let it be known that Young would return at some point next week, but now the team’s leading scorer from last season appears ready to get back on the floor.
Young will make his season debut against the Hawks in the first game a three-game road trip. The Lakers will take on the Hawks on Tuesday followed by the Houston Rockets on Wednesday and Dallas Mavericks on Friday.
