The Los Angeles Lakers lost another nail bitter Wednesday night when they could not overcome the best team in the Western Conference, the Memphis Grizzlies. Despite having chances to win the game in the final minutes, the Lakers could not make timely plays and eventually lost, 99-93.

The third quarter was again problematic for the Lakers and the team was outscored by Memphis in the period, 34-23. Kobe Bryant had a very slow start to the game and ended the night with 22 points and four turnovers, with one being in the final seconds which all but ruined any hope the Lakers had of winning.

As for Nick Young, he scored 13 points off the bench and spoke to the media about adjusting to Kobe and the new coaching staff via Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters:

Byron Scott said the Lakers would make a conscious effort to get Young the ball, and the shooting guard finished the night with 14 field goal attempts. Young is certainly the second best scoring option for the Lakers, but even he sometimes takes himself out of the game when Kobe is dominating the ball. Even though Bryant is the Lakers’ go-to player on that end of the court, Young needs to have the ball in his hands for the Lakers to challenge the defense.

Los Angeles now stands at 3-12 and will back in action on Friday night when they host the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Wolves aren’t much better record wise at 3-10, so this is a game the Lakers must win. In order to build confidence and some chemistry in the locker room, the Lakers must snag any victory against lower-tier teams.
