The Los Angeles Lakers started the new year at the team’s practice facility to prepare for one of the best teams in the NBA, the Memphis Grizzlies. In the first two games of the season matchup, the Lakers were able to stay competitive, but ultimately fell short by an average of 5.5 points.

After practice on Thursday, head coach Byron Scott was asked if he is embracing more three-pointers via Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters:

Before the start of the 2014-15 NBA season, Scott made comments about how the three-point shot gets teams to the playoffs, but it does not result in championships. While Scott wanted the Lakers to limit themselves to 10-15 threes this season, they are averaging 20.0 through 32 games, which ranks 21st in the NBA.

To start the season, the Lakers did not have any three-point threats except for Wayne Ellington due to injuries. As the season has progressed, the Lakers have gotten their shooters back and are taking more attempts with Nick Young leading the way at nearly 45 percent, which ranks seventh in the NBA.
