The Los Angeles Lakers have struggled the last couple of seasons, a position that neither the organization or fans are used to. The fans are hoping for a quick re-build of the team and the Lakers are hoping for the same thing.

At the Lakers All-Access event, Jeanie Buss reiterated the commitment to get the Lakers back to championship contention according to Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters:

Getting the Lakers back to the top of the NBA is a task easier said than done. The roster is not comparable to the best of the Western Conference and there is no clear path to improving the talent level.
The Lakers have been on the phones and have been mentioned as potential trade destinations for both Rajon Rondo and Dion Waiters. Neither worked out, but it does show that the team is exhausting all options to improve.
Of course, the off-season will be the big question as the Lakers will at least have the Houston Rockets’ first-round draft pick. They will only have their own if it lands in the top-5, which is a question mark at this time. The team will also have ample cap space to offer numerous players big contracts in free agency.
There are a number of ways for the Lakers to improve, the question is how they will do it. Jeanie Buss has been adamant in her belief that the front office will turn things around. Time will tell if that comes true.
