After the game, head coach Byron Scott clarified that Hill suffered a hyperextended knee according to Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters:

Hill has been one of the more consistent Lakers players this season, leading the team in rebounds and ranking among the league leaders in offensive rebounds. Losing him for any extended period of time would be a blow to the team.

Hill has scored in double-figures in each of the last five games after a bit of a slump and has gotten back to his post-ups after relying on his jumper a bit too much.

Coming into this season, Hill was a player many looked at as capable of taking a leap as he has been the team’s starting center since opening night, and has seen the most consistent minutes of his career.

If Hill is forced to miss some time, it is unknown who would take his spot in the starting lineup as Byron Scott could go a number of ways. If the Lakers want an offensive player, Carlos Boozer or Ryan Kelly could play the power forward and slide Ed Davis to center. Tarik Black could also be inserted as he could match Hill’s rebounding prowess.
