The Los Angeles Lakers will be playing the second game of a back-to-back on Friday night against the Utah Jazz on the road, but they’ll be without their starting point guard, according to Mike Trudell of Lakers.com:

With Ronnie Price on the shelf on Friday due the sore elbow, Jeremy Lin will more than likely get the start against the Jazz. Price replaced Lin as the starter after the first 20 games of the season. Head coach Byron Scott considers Price an upgrade defensively which gave the veteran the edge over Lin.

In 38 games this season, Price is averaging 5.5 points, 3.8 assists and 1.4 steals per game while shooting 36.1 percent from the floor. Lin is putting up 10.7 points and 4.4 assists per game in 25.6 minutes off the bench.

Lin, along with fellow veteran newcomer Carlos Boozer, has played better in a reserve role so far. Scott has said that he will likely make changes to the rotation once in the near future, but has yet to make the move to put either player back in the starting lineup.
