There was a belief last summer that Carmelo Anthony could join Kobe Bryant with the Los Angeles Lakers. That never happened as Anthony and Bryant decided the partnership wouldn’t work and the former decided to remain with the New York Knicks.

Despite that, the two remain good friends and with the Lakers set to play the Knicks in New York on Sunday morning, Anthony spoke about having complete confidence that Kobe would make a return from his latest injury according to Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News:
He’s good. Kobe will never show you any signs of weakness or anything like that,” said Anthony regarding a conversation with Bryant he described as ‘brother to brother.’”He’ll be back. He’ll prove everybody wrong. He’ll be back for sure.”
Kobe has already come back twice from major injuries. First was the torn Achilles suffered at the end of the 2013 season. Kobe came back the next season, but lasted only six games before succumbing to a broken knee.
Next year is expected to be Bryant’s final season in the NBA and he would surely like it to be a successful one. After surgery on the torn rotator cuff, Bryant is expected to be ready by the time the 2015-16 season begins.
Very few players have the will and work ethic to come back from these devastating injuries year after year, but that is what separates Kobe. Anthony knows this which is why he has such confidence that Kobe will make a complete recovery, despite the odds being stacked against him.
