In the first half of the 2014-15 NBA season, Jeremy Lin struggled to find his role as the starting point guard for the Los Angeles Lakers. Eventually, after the first 20 games of the season, Lin was demoted and had to come off the bench in favor of veteran Ronnie Price.

Although Lin is now coming off the bench for Coach Scott with rookie Jordan Clarkson as the starter, the 26-year-old appears to be finding his niche in the second unit. Lin has played well since the All-Star break and talked about his improved play after the loss to the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday night on TWCSportsNet, via Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters:

In 30 minutes off the bench on Tuesday night, Lin scored a game-high 23 points against the Hornets. Lin also filled out the stat sheet with eight assists, six rebounds, two steals and a block.

Before tonight’s game, Lin was averaging 17.0 points, 5.0 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game while shooting an impressive 50 percent from the floor. It seems as though Lin has really started to turn the corner and may be well on his way to earning another contract with the Lakers.

Lin will become an unrestricted free agent this summer with a lot of speculation surrounding his future. Although Lin struggled in the first half of the season in Los Angeles, the veteran guard could end up being in the team’s long-term plans if he’s able to continue playing at a high level.
