On Sunday night, Clarkson caught the eye of superstar Kobe Bryant at the Staples Center while facing the visiting Dallas Mavericks. Bryant made his first appearance on the Lakers bench since undergoing season-ending surgery on his right shoulder to repair a torn rotator cuff.
In the first quarter against the Mavs, with Rajon Rondo trying to stay in front of the quick rookie, Clarkson worked his way to the basket and finished with a smooth layup. Clarkson split the defenders with some fancy footwork in the paint and Kobe appeared impressed with the rookie’s move to finish at the rim.
