This season has been a disappointment on a number of levels for the Los Angeles Lakers, but arguably nobody has been more disappointing than Nick Young. Coming into the year, Young was looked at as a crucial piece for the success of the team, but his numbers have dropped across the board and he has struggled with injuries.

Young has missed the Lakers’ last nine games with swelling in his left knee and according to Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News, he will miss his 10th straight on Sunday:

The Lakers take on the Eastern Conference leading Atlanta Hawks on Sunday who they defeated in the first matchup, thanks in large part to Young, who made his season debut in that game. Young scored 17 points as the Lakers upset the Hawks on the road.

It is good that Young will travel with the team for their back-to-back against the Warriors to keep receiving treatment, but it is still unknown when he will return. Byron Scott said Young could miss a couple more weeks and it is looking like he is going to be right.

With only 18 games remaining in the season, there isn’t much time left for Young to turn things around. Risking any further damage in a lost season would be foolish, so it will be interesting to see when Young is able to get back on the court.
