Before head coach Byron Scott let it be known that he’d be the one representing the Los Angeles Lakers during the NBA Draft lottery, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ bassist and die-hard fan, Flea, said he love to represent the team on May 19.

Many Lakers fans were pulling for Flea to represent the team, but Coach Scott assumed the responsibility. Although some were disappointed about Scott being in New York rather than Flea, no one is arguing with the results. The Lakers now own the second overall pick in the upcoming 2015 NBA Draft and will likely have either Karl-Anthony Towns or Jahlil Okafor on the roster next season.

On Tuesday night, Flea posted the following picture on Instagram describing how he feels about the results of the lottery:

After three forgettable seasons, the Lakers finally see some light at the end of the tunnel. The rebuilding process in Los Angeles hasn’t been fun with plenty of lows and few highs, but now there may be a promising future ahead with a talented core of young players being assembled.

Flea is one of many Lakers fans that were ecstatic about the draft lottery results on Tuesday. The storied franchise came one pick away from having the best draft position on June 25, but no one is complaining with either Okafor or Towns likely wearing purple and gold next season.
