Lakers News: Sportsbook.ag Gives L.A. 70/1 Odds To Win 2016 NBA Title

Kobe Bryant with Trophies

Earlier in the week, the Golden State Warriors defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers and won the NBA championship to put an end to the 2014-15 NBA season. The focus now shifts to the off-season in which teams around the league will be looking to improve their rosters and hopefully make championship runs of their own.

Despite finishing with the league’s fourth worst record in 2014-15, there is plenty of optimism for some form of a turnaround next season. Both Kobe Bryant and Julius Randle will be making their returns from injury and will just be two of the additions the Lakers can expect. The team was awarded the No.2 pick in the NBA Draft and is entering their final week of preparation.

After working out Emmanuel Mudiay, Jahlil Okafor, and D’Angelo Russell earlier in the month, the team decided to bring the trio of prospects for their second sessions. Mudiay came in Thursday while Okafor had a Friday workout. Russell is expected to be at the practice facility on Saturday.

The draft is just one part of the puzzle for the Lakers and free agency takes place on July 1. Since the roster was mostly compromised of short-term deals, the team will have plenty of cap room to chase free agents in July. The team has been linked to a number of players, but Lakers’ plans should become clearer following the draft.
