The second pick wasn’t the only one the Los Angeles Lakers owned in the 2015 NBA Draft as the team worked out a number of players who the team could potentially take with their second round pick.

With holes all over the roster, there were a number of possibilities and ultimately the Lakers decided to take Stanford’s Anthony Brown via Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News:

Brown makes a lot of sense for the Lakers considering who they have already drafted thus far. The team took a point guard in D’Angelo Russell at number two, and a power forward in Larry Nance Jr. at 27. There was a big hole on the wing for the Lakers and Brown could step in and contribute there.

Brown has good size at 6’8 with a 6’11 wingspan and he also shot 44 percent from three for Stanford last season. In a league that thrives on shooting and defense, Brown could easily make his mark in the league.

Of course, with Mitch Kupchak saying the team is unlikely to bring in three rookies this season, there is always the possibility that the Lakers move Brown or Nance who they took at 27. If he remains in Los Angeles, Brown definitely fits a need for the team and could make an impact.
