The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to be very active during NBA free agency with the team intent on bringing in an All-Star-caliber free agent forward. Mitch Kupchak and company will do the rounds with a number of different big-name free agents, including Kevin Love.

According to ESPN’s Chris Broussard, Love is set to meet with the Lakers this week:

Love has been linked to the Lakers for the past two years with seemingly endless rumors connecting the former UCLA star to the franchise. Before being traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers last year, the consensus was that he’d play one more season with the Minnesota Timberwolves and likely sign a long-term deal with the Lakers this summer.

Obviously, Love headed to Cleveland and got a taste of the playoffs for the first time in his career while playing alongside Kyrie Irving and LeBron James. Although it was anything but smooth sailing in Cleveland for the three-time All-Star, all indications point to Love simply re-signing with the Cavaliers.

LaMarcus Aldridge, DeAndre Jordan and Greg Monroe are all expected to meet with the Lakers once free agency gets underway on July 1. Aldridge has been rumored to be leaning in the direction of Los Angeles, but conflicting reports have said the San Antonio Spurs have the edge and that the Portland Trail Blazers aren’t out of the running.

As for Love, the veteran forward will be pursued by the Boston Celtics, Phoenix Suns, Blazers, Cavaliers and Lakers. Other teams may emerge in the coming weeks, but Cleveland remains the favorite.
