Last season was forgettable to say the least for the Los Angeles Lakers. The storied franchise finished the year with only 21 wins and hoping they’d be able to hold onto their lottery pick in the 2015 NBA Draft.

Although things didn’t go as planned for the Lakers in terms of expectations last season, the team was able to bring in two promising young players with potentially bright futures in Jordan Clarkson and Julius Randle.

With Randle going down with a season-ending leg injury in the first game of his rookie season, Clarkson stepped up once being named the starter by head coach Byron Scott. Clarkson improved with every passing game as a starter and earned NBA All-Rookie First Team honors.

Clarkson let it be known he wasn’t satisfied with the rookie honors he received and intended to continue improving this summer. The Missouri has done so with the help of Pure Sweat’s Drew Hanlen which can be seen in the following footage, via Instagram:

Along with Clarkson, Hanlen has worked with many of the NBA’s up-and-coming players like Bradley Beal, Andrew Wiggins, Zach LaVine as well as NBA champion David Lee. The results are there with Clarkson looking to take the next step in his development after going from second-round draft pick to NBA starter.

With rookie D’Angelo Russell and Clarkson running the show in the backcourt for the Lakers, Los Angeles has a promising duo that may help lead the team into the future. Russell will make his debut alongside a much improved Clarkson on Friday night in Las Vegas in the team’s first Summer League against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
