The Los Angeles Lakers let a lot of players go in the off-season, but one who many fans hoped to see remain with the team was big man Ed Davis. With his energy, rebounding, and rim protection, Davis quickly became a fan favorite among Laker fans and was one of the few bright spots to emerge from last season.

Unfortunately for the Lakers, Davis would sign with the Portland Trail Blazers this summer and according to Shahan Ahmed of NBC LA, Byron Scott believes the Lakers miss Davis in the locker room:

Davis was great for the Lakers last season, averaging a career high in points, rebounds, blocks, and field goal percentage in his lone season in Los Angeles. He has spoken about wanting to remain in Los Angeles, but ultimately he decided to go elsewhere as the Lakers chose to pursue big names such as LaMarcus Aldridge and DeAndre Jordan.

Davis was also a true professional in the locker room, never complaining about his playing time or spot in the rotation despite his minutes fluctuating throughout the season.

The Lakers have a relatively deep frontcourt this season thanks to the additions of Roy Hibbert, Brandon Bass, and Larry Nance Jr. as well as the return of Julius Randle from injury. There is no doubt, however, that Davis would have been welcome on this team, and even though the Lakers seem to be fine without him, he was well-liked within the franchise.
