Lakers Rumors: Jabari Brown Will Look To Play Overseas Instead Of D-League
Lakers News: L.a. Waives Jabari Brown, Keeps Metta World Peace

The Los Angeles Lakers made their final roster cut on Monday as the team elected to keep veteran Metta World Peace on the team over second-year shooting guard Jabari Brown.

If Brown clears waivers, the Lakers would own his D-League rights allowing him to sign with the Los Angeles D-Fenders if he so chooses.

According to Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News, however, Brown will elect to play overseas as opposed to the D-League if he isn’t claimed by an NBA team:

If no NBA team signs Brown before he clears waivers, he will look to play overseas instead of playing in the D-League, according to a league source familiar with his thinking.

The decision to go overseas makes sense for Brown as he was already the leading scorer in the D-League last year before being called up. Many players similar to Brown have had outstanding careers in Europe. Lakers fans will remember Andrew ‘Mini Mamba’ Goudelock who spent two years with the Lakers before going overseas where he would win Eurocup MVP in 2014.

Wherever Brown ends up, he will surely maintain his aggressiveness and scoring mentality that has gotten him to this point. Hopefully he winds up on an NBA roster at some point, but if it turns out not to be the case, he will be a great basketball player somewhere.
