There is only one game left in Kobe Bryant’s basketball career, and the Los Angeles Lakers are expected to pull out all of the stops on that final night. Before then, however, many others are paying their respects to The Black Mamba, and the latest is Compton-born MC Kendrick Lamar.
The Grammy Award-winning rapper is a well-known Lakers fan and has been seen courtside at many games. For this project, Lamar teamed with ESPN, voicing a piece written by ESPN’s Scoop Jackson playing over Lamar’s ‘Untitled 07’ track from his most recent compilation album ‘Untitled Unmastered.’
The video itself sees Lamar walking through the Great Western Forum, where Kobe began his Lakers career. Of course, it also features a collection of Kobe’s greatest highlights and memories over the last 20 years, with Lamar seeming to take extra joy in remembering Kobe’s dunk over Dwight Howard in 2004.
Anyone who is a fan of Kobe, and Lamar, should check out the video as the spoken word, and highlights combine to make a video unlike any other.
