Larry Nance Jr: Team Believes They Can Be Special If ‘Nobody Gets A Big Head’
Game Recap: Lakers Pull Away In Second Half Against Hawks

The young core of the Los Angeles Lakers is full of potential and promise even if they have yet to show it on a consistent basis. Head coach Luke Walton believes in his team and prefers them to continue to grow rather than make changes via trade or free agency.

The players themselves also believe in it. The group of D’Angelo Russell, Larry Nance Jr., Brandon Ingram, Julius Randle, Jordan Clarkson, and Ivica Zubac has a ton of potential and they truly believe they can be special.

Nance told ESPN’s Zach Lowe that the team talks about how this could be special as long as nobody gets a big head:

“We talk about it,” Nance said. “How this could be something special, as long as nobody gets too big for his britches — as long as we all realize we are part of something bigger, and nobody gets a big head.”

The group as a whole is better than the sum of their parts right now and that could wind up being the case ultimately. Players like Russell and Ingram especially have superstar potential, but there is no guarantee them or any others will become a star. That doesn’t mean the team can’t flourish however.

The Lakers have a ton of talent and have proven that when they lock in and play with energy they can hang with some of the best teams in the league. As the team continues to grow, they will become more consistent and the mistakes they make will occur less often.

Overall the team seems to have the right mindset and is always saying the right things. Now they have to put these things in motion. If they can grow together and keep their egos in check the sky is the limit for this squad.
