On Saturday night, Kevin Durant made his return to Oklahoma City as the Thunder hosted the Golden State Warriors for the first time this season.

Durant’s reception was not very warm, as Thunder fans are still not too happy that he left Russell Westbrook and the Oklahoma City in NBA free agency to join the Warriors, who won an NBA-record 73 games last season.

Durant was booed almost every time he touched the ball in the game, and fans all throughout Chesapeake Energy Arena had signs and shirts with cupcakes on them.

The term ‘Cupcake’ started in Oklahoma City a few years back when Durant was still there, as then Thunder center Kendrick Perkins referred to his teammates as Cupcakes when they were being soft and sweet.

The Warriors and Durant got the last laugh Saturday night though, beating the Thunder 130-114. The win was their third in three tries against Oklahoma City this season.

After the game some of Durant’s teammates Stephen Curry and Draymond Green wore the Cupcake shirt to troll Oklahoma City fans, and Los Angeles Lakers broadcaster Mychal Thompson also trolled them with a tweet on his Twitter account:

Thompson, who played for the Lakers from 1986-1991 and won two championships with the team, is currently the Lakers radio broadcaster alongside John Ireland. He has a bit of a rooting interest for Golden State as his son Klay is one of the stars of the team.

Durant had a solid game in his first game back in Oklahoma City, as he had 34 points, nine rebounds and three assists on 12-of-21 shooting.

Westbrook also had one of his best games of the season in the defeat, scoring 48 points to go along with 11 rebounds and eight assists on 14-of-26 shooting.

The Warriors return to Oklahoma City one more time this season on Monday, March 20.
