With the Lakers season (unexpectedly) over before June, it’s time to start looking ahead to the summer. As those who reside in LA have known for the last 3 years, summer means the Nike 3 on 3 basketball tournament at L.A. Live – Great Games, Great Times & Great DUNK Contests like this one:

History
The history of the Nike 3 on 3 outdoor tournament is certainly an exciting one. The tournament’s first year was back in 2009, and thousands of the best ballers from Los Angeles and the surrounding areas flocked to L.A. Live to showcase their skills at Los Angeles’ premier basketball venue. We were there and took some great pics of the fans from all over LA who came out to support their favorite teams:

Since then it has grown to become one of the largest events in Los Angeles each year. It has over 1,000 teams annually, 4,000 players, and 25,000 spectators that come from all over the country to witness the action.

For those interested in signing up for the Nike 3 on 3 tournament set to take place from August 5-7, 2011, here are the details you need to know:
- Go to the Nike 3 on 3 homepage.
- Click ‘Register to Play’ and fill in the required information.
- Make it down to L.A. Live during your allotted time and test your game against the best from Los Angeles!
- Make sure to bring out your friends and family to support your way to center court
There are different levels of competition so that no matter your skill level you can compete in the tournament. Nike has done a great job of making sure that no matter your age or experience you can have a great time competing against some of the best players in the city.
