Kobe Bryant to Meet With Besiktas Saturday

The NBA is set to have their first meeting since the lockout broke, but there is another meeting set for Saturday that may concern Lakers star Kobe Bryant.

After much speculation that Bryant would indeed play in Europe if the NBA lockout cut into the season, it looks like he’s ready to make it official.

Bryant is scheduled to meet with the Besiktas team officials this Saturday to discuss the possibilities of Bryant playing in Turkey next season.

According to Seref Yelcin, the Besiktas’ head of basketball operations, there is roughly a 50 percent chance of Bryant playing for the Turkish club team next year. Yelcin says that money will ‘not be a problem,’ even though Bryant is reportedly asking for around $1 million in monthly salary.

Last season Bryant did a commercial for Turkish Airlines, who is a major sponsor of Besiktas. Whether or not that will sway Bryant one way or the other is yet to be seen.

Bryant will be in Washington D.C. this weekend for the World Football Challenge featuring F.C. Barcelona and Manchester United.
