Drew League Going After Kobe Bryant

Los Angeles based Drew League will have a much anticipated rematch against Washington D.C.’s Goodman League on Sept. 10 in L.A. The two teams previously played on Aug. 20 and Goodman League won the game 135-134 with Kevin Durant as the team’s leading scorer with 44.

Drew League commissioner Dino Smiley is trying to increase his team’s chances of winning the next game and limiting Durant’s effectiveness by going after five-time champion Kobe Bryant. According the Los Angeles Times, the Drew League officials already met with Bryant in an effort to bring him along for the rematch game.

“We only have three weeks and I think it’s going to be challenging, honestly,” Smith said. “But we’ll see what we can do.”

Kobe has helped his Lakers team in winning the 2009 and 2010 NBA Championships, so it is quite obvious why the Drew League wants the Mamba to join its cause.

Kobe can provide the team with instant offensive explosion and his stellar defensive tactics will impede Durant from having another 40+ game. Bryant has experience playing for the league, he participated in a Drew League game earlier in August and he hit the game winning shot over Thunder’s James Harden.
