The philanthropic tendencies of Ron Artest have become almost commonplace over the last year and a half, and it continues with this latest story. Artest recently donated $37,500 to Centerstone, a mental health charity. The funds helped Centerstone build a new facility in Nashville, TN.

Artest, or Metta World Peace as he’s now known, donated over $300,000 over the last several months to various charities.

While many people get tired of Artest’s often-bizarre antics, acts like these make the basketball star seem much more tolerable. Many fans have felt that Artest is spreading himself a little thin with appearances on Dancing with the Stars, late-night talk shows, and his always-interesting Twitter account. But through these donations and his obvious desire to give back to the community Artest helps offset his occasionally strange antics, creating a relatively fair balance in the world of Metta World Peace.
