Report: Lakers Add Heidi Watney as Sideline Reporter for Time Warner

According to Sean McAdam of Comcast SportsNet New England Heidi Watney is leaving NESN to return to Los Angeles to work as a sideline reporter for the Lakers.

Ever since the Lakers promoted their former sideline reporter John Ireland to the play-by-play duties there has been an open position.

Now it seems that the Lakers will fill that position with Watney, who graduated from the University of San Diego in 2003.

Watney will begin working with Time Warner and the Lakers in the 2012-13 season. At the rate this current lockout is going, that very well could be ‘next season.’

Terms of Watney’s deal haven’t been released or confirmed.

The Lakers signed a 20-year deal with Time Warner last season which is reported to be worth more than $2.5 billion.
