Italian Owner Claims Kobe Bryant Committed to Playing One Game

Remember back when we were in the midst of the NBA lockout and every week it seemed that a new rumor sprouted up that involved Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant playing overseas?

Well even though the lockout has all but ended, some of these European teams aren’t quite ready to pass the spotlight back to the NBA. Mark Medina of the L.A. Times is reporting that Claudio Sabatini, owner of the Italian team Virtus Bologna, is now claiming that Bryant agreed to play one game with the team this week for approximately $4 million.

The details are sketchy, and Sabatini seems to have trouble keeping his stories straight. The numbers change with every proposed ‘deal’ between Bryant and Virtus Bologna.

In the end, Sabatini comes out looking like an attention-starved individual doing whatever he can to keep his team relevant before the NBA sends him back to obscurity.

Regardless, with Bryant and the Lakers set to get back to business this week, don’t expect him to be agreeing with any other teams anytime soon.
