Magic CEO Resigns After Late Night Call to Howard

After spending nearly 20 years with the Orlando Magic, team CEO Bob Vander Weide has decided to resign. Vander Weide, 50, chose to resign from his position after his latest incident involving Dwight Howard. At 1:00 a.m., Vander Weide was intoxicated, but he decided to call Howard to tell him how much he wanted him to stay with the Magic, Fox News reports.

“Maybe Dwight thought it was inappropriate to talk business after a couple of glasses of wine… Maybe I should have waited until the morning,” said Vander Weide.

This is not the proper way to persuade Howard to come back to the Magic. If the front office wants to develop a championship team, it must show Howard its seriousness and willingness to stay focused on the work ahead.
