The Lakers are looking to fill out their roster as opening day rapidly approaches. Today they invited two more players to compete for roster spots at their practice facility in El Segundo.
Los Angeles tendered contracts to Gerald Green and Malcolm Thomas.
Green, a four-year NBA veteran, is best known as the 2007 NBA Slam Dunk Contest champion. He was originally drafted by the Boston Celtics back in 2005, and has played in 181 games during his NBA career.
Malcolm Thomas, a 6-9 forward out of San Diego State, helped lead his Aztecs to an NCAA Sweet 16 appearance in 2010. During his final season at San Diego State he averaged 11.4 points, 8.1 rebounds and 2.02 blocks in 30.4 minutes.
Due to the brutal schedule that all teams will face this season after the lockout, many teams are looking for fresh legs for the bench.
After the news that the team was close to signing forward Josh McRoberts as well, it appears as if the Lakers are looking to help solidify their bench for the upcoming season.
