Lakers-Bulls Christmas Game Set TV Records

The Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls tipped off their season on Christmas Day, and the 88-87 Bulls victory set television records. The Lakers-Bulls game was the third-highest preliminary rating for a regular season game on ABC with a 6.5 rating, NBA.com reports.

The NBA rebounded quite well in terms of fan appreciation, and it seems as though the five-month lockout has not impeded the league’s increase of popularity.

NBA fans came out in storm on Christmas Day and they were given five great games on the holiday. The Lakers-Bulls game came down to the wire, and unfortunately for Lakers fan, the team lost in the final seconds.

Still, David Stern and the rest of the league should be very pleased that the game is still obtaining high ratings. The league was at a high after the Heat-Mavericks Finals and fans are anxious to see a 66-game season and another set of thrilling playoff series.
