Deron Williams Wants Help in New Jersey – Good Sign for Trade Suitors?

New Jersey Nets point guard Deron Williams apparently isn’t happy with the lack of talent around him on the roster. Now, where have we heard this story before?

Anyways, this seems to be another example of a star player declaring their unhappiness to their team’s front office. According to the New York Times Williams has officially expressed his displeasure with the current situation.

“We need some more pieces. There’s no secret about that. There’s not many starters on our team right now. We have a lot of great role players, a lot of guys who know their job, but in this league you need some top-tier guys so you can get the job done.”

For teams like the Lakers who are in desperate need of a younger point guard this has the potential to be an encouraging sign. Williams is scheduled to hit the free agent market next summer. While he has said he hasn’t ruled out returning to New Jersey, each day that passes without Williams signing an extension moves everybody one step closer to the day he leaves town.

Williams will also have more desire to leave if the team continues to struggle. New Jersey lost 107-70 on Tuesday night to the Atlanta Hawks.
