It seems that the Andrew Bynum for Dwight Howard trade has been one of the more inevitable trades in recent history, but thus far hasn’t happened. There were reports that Howard took the Lakers off his wish list and other, similar rumors, but so far he is still a member of the Magic.
Now, according to Peter Vecsey of the New York Post, it’s being reported that the Lakers offered Bynum to the Magic in exchange for Howard and were turned down.
“I can tell you for a fact the Lakers offered Andrew Bynum and the Magic do not want him,” said a Western Conference executive.”
The Magic had been trying to pry both Bynum and power forward Pau Gasol from Los Angeles in exchange for Howard, but so far the Lakers have been reluctant to do so, and that sentiment probably won’t change moving forward. The Lakers front office has been quoted as saying they refuse to trade two All-Stars (Bynum, Gasol) for one.

If Orlando is going to move Howard they have until March 15 to do so. If he’s not traded by then he will play out the rest of the season with the Magic before becoming an unrestricted free agent this summer.
