Lakers Rumors: Lakers Unwilling to Part with Draft Pick for Ramon Sessions

It appears that yet another trade proposal has been shot down by the Los Angeles Lakers.

According to Mike Bresnahan of the L.A. Times, the Lakers were close to acquiring up-and-coming point guard Ramon Sessions from the Cleveland Cavaliers, but were unwilling to part with the first-round draft pick received from the Dallas Mavericks in the Lamar Odom trade earlier this season .

This is the second of two proposed deals that the Lakers have declined heading towards the March 15 NBA trade deadline. The first was the Minnesota Timberwolves offer to send small forward Michael Beasley to Los Angeles in exchange for two first-round draft picks.

This move continues to make Lakers fans in L.A. scratch their heads as adding Sessions to the extremely weak backcourt would’ve been a step in the right direction. Not only would the Lakers improve at the point guad position, but all they’d have to part with is one of the two first-round draft picks they already have.

At 25-years-old, Sessions is the ideal candidate to come in and bring some life to the point guard position alongside Kobe Bryant. Despite improving with every minute on the floor for the Cavs, Sessions is playing behind Rookie of the Year frontrunner Kyrie Irving this season and would probably love the opportunity to start for the Lakers if traded.

In 33 games played this season for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Ramon Sessions is averaging 10.3 points, 5.3 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game.
