Lakers Nation Week in Review: Feb. 26 – Mar. 4

The week began in Orlando, Fl. where the NBA world was showcasing its talent. Two Los Angeles Lakers players played in the Mid-Winter Classic, Andrew Bynum and Kobe Bryant, and the two men played well for the conference. However, the brief break was over quickly, and the Lakers had to get back to work a couple days after.

The Los Angeles Lakers came off the All-Star break with three consecutive victories including a win over the Miami Heat for perhaps their biggest of the season. After beating the Eastern Conference in the All-Star Game, Kobe Bryant continued his onslaught despite the fact that he has been wearing a protective face mask due to a broken nose.

It was a busy week for the Lakers and before we head into another hectic seven days, let’s take a look back at the week that was in Lakers Nation.

Game Recaps

The Los Angeles Lakers returned from All-Star Weekend by hosting the Timberwolves. Kobe Bryant played his first game with the mask and dominated the injured Wolves.

The Lakers held a major lead in the third quarter, but despite the fact that the Sacramento Kings made it a game late, Kobe Bryant closed it out. After a stellar fourth quarter performance, the Lakers walked away with a 115-107 win.

The Los Angeles Lakers had their much anticipated rematch against the Miami Heat and this time, the Lakers took care of business in front of their home crowd at Staples Center. Metta World Peace played tremendously well and guided the Lakers to a 93-83 win.

Lakers News

Kobe Bryant had an MRI and it revealed that he had a broken nose, and on top of that, was dealing with a concussion.

Even though Dwyane Wade fouled Kobe Bryant hard during an exhibition game to break his nose, Bryant said there is no bad blood between the two.

After being sent down to the NBA Developmental League, the Los Angeles Lakers called up Devin Ebanks.

On the 50th anniversary of Wilt Chamberlain’s 100 point game, the NBA celebrated the historic night and Kobe Bryant went on to say that he believes someone will eventually reach triple-digits.

Kobe Bryant said recently that he has not had a ‘rival’ so far in his 16-year NBA career.
