Kobe Bryant Supports Jim Buss Despite Others Who May be Unhappy

The Mason and Ireland Show on ESPN radio in L.A. had Kobe Bryant as a guest yesterday to talk about the Lakers. In his interview, Bryant discussed his feelings toward Jim Buss, son of Lakers owner Jerry Buss. According to Kurt Helin of NBCsports.com, who quoted the ESPN radio bit, Kobe said:

“We have a good relationship. People misunderstand that relationship. We’ve had good times. We’ve had dinner together, things like that. He’s a great guy. He wants to do the right thing, he wants to help us win a championship. The biggest thing is, the same with his father who he’s learned from, he’s not going to make rushed decisions. He’s going to be patient, he’s going to take his time, and the one thing I will say about the Lakers organization is that this is one of those franchises that always seems to land on it’s feet. Always seems to make the right choices, always seems to make the right decisions. Even the tough ones. He’s a great guy.”

Jerry Buss has been giving his son Jim Buss an opportunity to run the Lakers franchise from here on out, making many people displeased. But not Kobe. And when you have your star player behind you, things look pretty good as an owner.

As Kobe states, Buss has the opportunity to make a great team, especially with the stars that don’t play minutes; the other people that run the Lakers franchise.

Only time will tell for Jim Buss, but for now, he has the support of Kobe Bryant.
