World Peace Jokes About Lamar Odom Being Lakers’ Ball Boy

The news of the defending NBA champion Dallas Mavericks parting ways with former Lakers’ forward Lamar Odom spread like wildfire yesterday with the two sides deciding it would be better to shut down the relationship for the rest of the season. This move was something that many people saw coming with Odom never really fitting in with Dallas ever since being traded by the Los Angeles Lakers before the beginning of the season.

Even though it appeared that Lamar Odom was released by the Dallas Mavericks initially, the reports were much different as the Mavs simply deactivated him for the rest of the season. This move was made to keep the team’s options open with the versatile forward in the off-season.

In response to Odom’s deactivation by the Mavs, Lakers’ forward Metta World Peace had this to say about his former teammate and childhood friend via Dave McMenamin of ESPNLosAngeles.com:

“Maybe he can come back and be a ball boy and then next year, come play. That’s what he should do. He’d be the first ball boy in the NBA that can play. Come back; get the towels and next year, play. Why not?”

As usual, World Peace was simply making some hilariously ridiculous statements when talking about the current situation with Lamar Odom and the Dallas Mavericks. Despite that being the case, the goofy forward kept the joke going:

“Lamar should just like for one month, just be a boy scout and wear the outfit,” World Peace, taking the joke a step further. “Just have fun. You’re getting paid.”

He was then asked, What kind of merit badges would Odom earn?

“It would probably something that had to do with candy … Skittles … It would probably taste good,” World Peace said. “Sweet. Edible. I guess.”

So regardless of Metta World Peace poking some fun at his former teammate, the future of Lamar Odom’s career in the NBA is very much up in the air after what happen yesterday. There is no telling what the Mavs will do with the veteran forward in the off-season, but if he is simply released; the Lakers might take a look at signing him if they haven’t already made some moves this summer.
