Lakers News: Kobe Bryant Named to NBA Second Team All-Defense

Kobe Bryant has been named to the NBA’s second team all-defense for the 2011-12 season. Bryant, who has been named to the all-defensive first team nine times in his career, now will add all-defensive second team to his resume for the third time.

The news came Wednesday morning courtesy of Mike Trudell of Lakers.com.

The awards are voted on by all 30 NBA coaches. As Trudell reported in his initial tweet, Bryant joined Boston’s Rajon Rondo and Kevin Garnett, Chicago’s Luol Deng and New York’s Tyson Chandler on the second squad. Chandler’s listing on second team all-defense raised a few eyebrows, as he was the league’s Defensive Player of the Year.
